Adults refer to animals or humans who have completed their developmental stage. The term adult is used in the context of human beings in order to define moral and social concepts. Contrary to the concept of a non-adult or "minor" an legal adult is a person who has reached the age of majority. They are considered autonomous, self-sufficient and dependable. The word "major" is a term applied to the person.
